Hi Bob, I don't think you sounded sexist; women are judged primarily by how they look. I know if I don't look 'presentable' no one will care what I have to say. I dress up, even when I'm sick, to go to the doctor, so that my symptoms are given full consideration and I'm not given an anti-depressant for a stomachache.

I'm glad you believe your sisters and trust their experience - a lot of folks who haven't had an actual experience don't...fully empathize? Or think maybe the person who sharing is overly sensitive. I agree, it seems like your parents could have been misguided in their priorities. I'd love to hear more about that, because I've heard about that sort of thing before. Do you write on Medium?
