I agree with your assessment: people who don’t like themselves are eaten up by envy when they are faced with a woman who doesn’t hate herself- more so when she has less than them. Not only does it not make sense to them, but it will make them more angry when the strategy to be hostile towards her results in her moving on with her life, usually with some relief to be out of an uncomfortable situation.
