If you haven’t already, every state is required by law to have an ADRC -an Aging & Disability Resource Center with CMS certified and unbiased experts who will meet with you 1:1 and show you the lowest out-of-pocket, highest rated plans (Medicare Part D, Medigap, and if you can only afford an HMO, the Medicare Part C/Medicare Advantage available to you). They will also see if you’re eligible for a low-income subsidy and help you apply. My free advice is to avoid an advantage plan if you can afford to, as the network is very narrow, whereas Original Medicare is universally accepted (the gap plan and Part D is more specific): Medigap is a serious, one time decision, and as you’re international, take care! But Part D you choose every year in the fall based on your current medications & star rating of the plans.

This is a no-cost service & keeps you away from sheisty insurance agents who are just making a buck.

Wishes she had a gong, like on The Gong Show, but for stupid ideas (especially her own). Please don’t ask me what I think if you don’t want to know.
