I’m not sure how many times as a child and as an adult, after being in a family or couple’s perfectly acceptable but not *spotless* house, my parents would agree that the wife “wasn’t much of a housekeeper” and make that sort of face that meant “she had one job, and she couldn’t even get that right!” If she had a full-time job, it was MORE important she didn’t neglect these menial tasks, as her number one priority should have been ass-wiping her husband so he understood that she knew she was less important or something.
Trust me, it was clear to my sister, me, and particularly my brother who was supposed to be following the mess-makers with the cleaning kit.
