In the US, the problem is also zoning in many areas, and this is the fault of Boomers. For example, in my town, they wanted to keep property taxes high, no renters or extended families in homes: so, each house must be built on a two-acre lot and no “in-law” dwelling unless attached to the building/house (else you need another two acres). This was also to prevent apartments & trailer parks. Now, the Boomers are aging and realizing they need to modify the zoning requirements in order not to go into nursing homes!!!

LOL it’s funny watching them panic as they can’t get their younger generations on board to pass this…I guess no one’s willing to ruin their marriage by having dear old mom commenting on how they live wrong when she lives at their house.
