I’ve noticed a number of people who are simple think in hierarchy, and thus need rank/caste systems to make sense of even the simplest things. They rank job importance, gender, race, educational attainment, beauty, weight, etc., and stratify people’s perceived value this way. If this guy is simple fellow like this, he ranked himself as a catch and expected her to start jumping through hoops. Right? He thought he was an 8 or 9 and she was a solid 6. He then got annoyed when she didn’t respond quickly to him the first time: but he respected her moxie. Setting the boundary, reasonable as it was, was the game-changer. He realizes that she doesn’t understand how things are supposed work here.
