People who are not from the US are often surprised by the reality of what life can be like in the US. If a person is relying upon what she’s seen on TV and movies and then a man on the make to describe his life, job, etc., there’s a good chance she’s in for a shock! If she’s married and a stranger in a strange land, she’s screwed. Because it’s not a good surprise. It’s a “Deliverance” surprise.
