Take a SHRM prep (or other college level HR certification course) and get your eyes opened about the function of HR - it’s all about protecting the standing and management of the company, and alignment of the underlings to the company’s priorities, particularly when they shift. That’s it. They want awkward people and situations gone, quietly, because it’s bad for business. That is the only function of the entire department.
